The Pennsylvania International Academy provides high school students the unique opportunity to study in high school with a strong focus in soccer. Aspiring soccer players, both domestic and abroad come to the Pennsylvania International Academy of Soccer to train in an intensive and highly focused soccer curriculum while receiving an excellent high school education at Mercyhurst Preparatory School.
Each Pennsylvania International Soccer Academy student works one on one with his or her technical coach four days every week. In addition, the player is inserted into one of our local partner youth soccer clubs, where they will train and play in tournaments and competitions with their club soccer team. Likewise, players will have the opportunity to connect and try out with other programs that are beneficial to a soccer player’s development such as the local, state, and perhaps even the regional Olympic Development Program player pools.
The Pennsylvania International Soccer Academy provides their student athletes with a quality education in addition to intense soccer programming. Through our partnership with Mercyhurst Prep, our students receive a quality high school education via our partner high school, the two time Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Mercyhurst Preparatory School.
Through Mercyhurst Prep, the student athlete will grow and learn academically. Mercyhurst Prep is the only private school in Northwest Pennsylvania offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. Our unique partnership with Mercyhurst Prep allows the Pennsylvania International Soccer Academy to provide our student-athletes with the highest quality education combined with a highly focused soccer pathway. Such a partnership allows us to prepare each student-athlete with the tools needed to obtain success academically and in soccer.
Our Academy’s licenced staff coach is Ben Ady. Coach Ben holds his coaching licence with the US Soccer Federation.
Upon arrival, Coach Ben assesses each player for fitness and technical ability. He uses this data to create a player specific curriculum for each student-athlete. Coach Ben oversees and executes the programming to address the player’s technical skills as well as their match fitness and dietary needs. Players can expect to work one on one and in small groups with Coach Ben three to four times per week.
In addition to individual training, our players join, train, and play with an age appropriate local club team. Pennsylvania International Soccer Academy players are welcomed into either the Erie Admirals soccer club or the International Soccer Academy of Erie club teams.
Through the ISA Erie and EASC teams, our players will participate in training with their respective club teams. Team trainings will take place during the week. Players will take part in weekend league matches and tournaments as scheduled for their respective club teams.
Each PISA player is given the opportunity to try out for the state’s Olympic Development Program. Trials will take place at the local level and players will have the opportunity to progress to the state, regional, and national levels as recommended by their respective ODP coaches.
The Pennsylvania International Soccer Academy uses a combination of athletic and academic avenues to match our player-athletes with the best, most suitable colleges in the land. Our college admissions counselors assist players in the recruiting and application process.
With the help of our specialists, players make a list of colleges they are interested in attending. Our specialists work to ensure that the student-athlete maintains proper academic progress and works to assist in placing the player on the respective college coaches’ radar. We use a combination of in-person and electronic means to connect with college programs, thus maximizing exploration of all collegiate options.
